Murihiku Medical Services is a community-focused general practice located in the heart of Invercargill, Southland.

We are dedicated to delivering high quality, holistic primary health care to individual and whānau across all stages of life.

We operate under the kaupapa of manaakitanga and ensure that our care is accessible to all.

Our multidisciplinary team includes General Practitioners, Practice Nurse, Health Coach, Health Improvement Practitioner, Clinical Admin Team and Management; who works collaboratively to support both clinical needs and the broader wellbeing of our community.

Note: Our consult charges are for 15-minute only. If you require more time or have more than one issue to discuss, please book a double appointment (double charges apply).

Note: Please note that some services—such as Medical Certificates, driver licensing, and firearms applications are not funded and will incur full fees.

Patient Credit Terms and Conditions of Trade

  • All appointments not cancelled in advance (1 business day) will incur a $40.00 DNA fee. (For all ages).

  • Payment is required on the day of your appointment. Please ensure your account is settled immediately after your consultation.

  • Patients who have not attended the practice between two (2) to three (3) years may be required to re-enrol. If you have debt owing to the practice- you will be unable to be re-enrol. 

  • Patients requesting repeat prescriptions must attend a consultation with their enrolled provider for medication review in order to get prescriptions. Exceptions may apply at the provider’s discretion.

  • Fees may be amended from time to time. Murihiku Medical Services reserves the right to adjust fees in circumstances including (but not limited to) increases in operational or supply costs, reductions in government funding, or administrative errors or omissions. 

Overdue Accounts: 

If your account remains unpaid for 30 days or more, you will receive a monthly statement, a text message reminder and/or a phone call to discuss payment arrangement, If an approved payment arrangement is not paid in full by the agreed due date, your account will be referred to a debt collection agency. This may result in the suspension of our non-urgent care treatments and services, and possible termination of your enrolment. Any additional costs incurred in the recovery of the debt, including collection fees and legal costs, will be your responsibility.

  • Repeat Prescriptions

    Repeat prescriptions may only be ordered for medications you have already been prescribed by us.

    72 Hours-Standard Prescription $25.00

  • General Medical Consultations

    Your first point of call for any health concern you have.

    GP consultation Price: $67.00

  • Driver Licence Medicals

    Renewal of Driver Licenses require a thorough examination of your health and fitness to drive.

    Please allow 30 minutes in total for a nurse consultation followed by time with your GP.

    Standard: $130.00

  • Womens Health Procedures

    Endometrial Biopsy/ Pipelle - These are generally a funded appointment.

    Pessary Fittings - $350.00 which covers a 30min prolapse assessment, sizing of ring pessary and cost of the pessary device.
    -A further appointment to fit the pessary when it arrives will be required, charged at $67.00.

    Mirena IUD Insertion & Removal

    Following a pre-consultation with your doctor, this long term contraceptive device is inserted or removed onsite by our expert team. Referrals from other GP practices are accepted for Mirena Contraception.

    Cost: Standard $150 for insertion

    CSC $0 No charge for insertion

    Referrals from other GP practices will incur an additional $30 administration fee.

  • Minor Surgery

    Our expert team performs a wide range of in-house minor surgeries.

    These include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Skin Lesion / Skin Cancer Removal - $350 for 1 x routine skin lesion removal

    Punch Biopsies - $150

    Toenail Resection - Adult - $150, Child - $100

    Insertion/ removal of long term contraceptive devices, Jadelle, Mirena, Copper IUD

  • Occupational, Sporting and Recreational Medicals

    If you require a medical assessment or medical clearance for occupational, sporting or recreational purposes, this is non-subsidised medical care and the charge is $120.00 per 15 minutes.

  • Medical Opinion for Procedures

    Occasionally our doctors are asked by other health professionals to provide an opinion or give clearance for procedures, this is generally non-subsidised medical care and will be charged at $90 per 15 minutes

  • Jadelle Insertion & Removal

    Following a pre-consultation with your doctor, this long term contraceptive device is inserted or removed onsite by one of our expert team.

  • Acute Accident Care

    If you have been seen by a different practitioner or other health professional prior to presenting the injury to us, please be sure to bring your ACC number along with you

    Health Coaching (HP) – Free 30-Minute Appointments

    In partnership with Active Southland, we are pleased to offer our enrolled patients access to free Health Coaching services, conveniently delivered at our practice.

    Health Coaching provides one-on-one support to help you develop, strengthen, and progress towards your personal health and wellbeing goals. Whether you are focusing on prevention, making lifestyle changes, or managing an existing health concern, a Health Coach can work alongside you to:

    Explore what matters most to you and your health

    Identify achievable steps towards your goals

    Build confidence and motivation to make positive changes

    Connect you with community resources and ongoing support

    Each funded appointment is 30 minutes and is designed to empower you with practical tools, guidance, and encouragement tailored to your needs.

  • HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PRACTITIONER

    Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) – Free 30-Minute Appointments

    In partnership with WellSouth, we are proud to offer our enrolled patients access to a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP). HIPs are qualified and registered health professionals with specialist training and experience in mental health and wellbeing support.

    A HIP can work with you to build practical skills and strategies that support positive behavioural change and overall wellbeing. Sessions are tailored to your individual needs and may include support with:

    Managing stress, anxiety, low mood, and difficult emotions

    Developing healthier sleep routines

    Reducing or managing alcohol and drug use

    Understanding and improving thoughts, feelings, and behaviours

    Supporting children, youth, and whānau with worries or behavioural concerns

    HIPs work closely with the wider healthcare team to provide timely, accessible, and solution-focused support. They are available for people of all ages, and appointments are delivered right here at the practice in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment.

    Each funded appointment is 30 minutes and free of charge for our enrolled patients.
